So what is this blog and why the hell would you read it?

I guess right off I should tell you who I am. I have been in the IT industry since 1994, and have been fascinated with technology since I was a child. I am changing directions as of today, heading to something that isn’t IT.

The thing is, there is a company I want to work for, a company that fosters creativity, that believes more in the power of its people than in the dollars they generate, that believes those people will make it more than it could be if it focused on short term gain. Problem is, after searching for a whole lot of years, I don’t believe that company exists yet. changed job again (after just a month and a half) I decided to short cut my idea and build the company I want to work for. Basically I will be doing branding and marketing, based on the belief that marketing can be the process of letting people know that a good service or product exists and that they can use it if they choose to.

I have decided to call my company Sedition Branding & Communications, a name I came up with while working for revolve. At the time Revolve was called Image Design and we were trying to come up with a name that better reflected the company. Revolve was the one selected, but sedition was my suggestion. Sedition reflects my brand in that Sedition will be about pushing the envelope, breaking away from the standard, killing the expectation.

I will be chronicling this process over the next while, so keep reading if you want to know what it is like to abandon your comfort zone, drop everything you know, and go in a totally different direction while in your mid thirties.
